About The Haunting Hour
The Haunting Hour is four rounds of Halloween nonsense on one shared screen. The Alibi asks you to write your way out of a ridiculous crime and then vote for whoever lied best. The Cursed Charade has you act out your curse while everyone else picks which of five it was.
Monster Match puts an anonymous confession on the board and asks who wrote it. The Final Haunt is sudden death: two choices, one of them cursed, and you keep picking until only one player is left standing.
Every round opens with a card explaining how it is played, and it waits until every phone has tapped 'I am ready' - or until the host decides to start anyway. That means nobody has to have played before, and nobody has to explain the rules out loud over a party.
Two to sixteen players and ten to twenty minutes depending on the rounds and pace the host picks. It scales properly at both ends: with a small room the first round deals two crimes each, and below four players Monster Match brings in a Ghost Writer so the round still works.
How a room starts
- Pick a game from the catalog — every occasion has its own room.
- Put the game's board screen where everyone can see it: a TV, a laptop, or a shared screen on a video call.
- Players scan the QR code (or type the room code) in their phone's browser. No app, no account.
- Play — everyone answers, votes, and scores from their own phone.
How to play The Haunting Hour
A short narrated walkthrough of the whole game, from joining on your phone to the final scores: watch the how-to video. It is one tap from inside the room too, so a first-time group never needs the rules explained.
Where The Haunting Hour fits
You will find it in the Halloween room, alongside the other games picked for that occasion.
Common questions
- How many people can play?
- Two to sixteen. Every round is designed to still work at the small end - it is playable as a couples game.
- Do we need to know the rules first?
- No. Each round opens with a card explaining it, and waits for everyone to tap 'I am ready' before starting.
- Is there much typing?
- One written alibi in the first round and one confession. The rest is tapping and voting.
- How long does it take?
- Ten to twenty minutes, depending on how many rounds the host runs and the pace they set.
- Is it scary?
- Not remotely - it is Halloween-themed party comedy. The 'curses' are things you act out, not jump scares.
