About Resolutions & Regrets
Resolutions & Regrets is four rounds of New Year's Eve nonsense on one shared screen. Last Year's Regrets accuses every player of something they allegedly did last year — caught shouting Happy New Year a minute early, caught breaking a resolution before the countdown finished — and gives them one sentence to explain themselves before the room votes for the smoothest talker. The Resolution hands one player a New Year moment to act out in silence or draw on their phone, while everyone else picks which of five near-identical resolutions it was.
Confetti Confessions puts an anonymous end-of-year confession on the board and asks who in the room wrote it — with Father Time slipping his own answers into the pile, so nobody is safe assuming a confession came from a friend. The Countdown finishes the night in sudden death: two New Year choices every few seconds, one of them drops you, and the last player standing at midnight takes the crown.
Every round opens with a card explaining how it is played and waits until every phone is ready, so nobody has to have played before and nobody has to explain rules over a party. It works as the warm-up before your countdown, the main event of a small gathering, or the thing that keeps everyone awake until midnight.
How a room starts
- Pick a game from the catalog — every occasion has its own room.
- Put the game's board screen where everyone can see it: a TV, a laptop, or a shared screen on a video call.
- Players scan the QR code (or type the room code) in their phone's browser. No app, no account.
- Play — everyone answers, votes, and scores from their own phone.
How to play Resolutions & Regrets
A short narrated walkthrough of the whole game, from joining on your phone to the final scores: watch the how-to video. It is one tap from inside the room too, so a first-time group never needs the rules explained.
Where Resolutions & Regrets fits
You will find it in the New Year's Eve room, alongside the other games picked for that occasion.
Common questions
- How many people can play, and how long does it take?
- Two to sixteen players, and ten to twenty minutes depending on how many rounds the host runs and the pace they set. It scales properly at both ends of that range.
- What do we need to play?
- One shared screen for the board and a phone per player. Each phone joins with a code — there is nothing to install.
- Is it family-friendly?
- Yes. The regrets are things like being caught vacuuming up the confetti mid-cheer, and the confessions are about resolutions and the year gone by. Nothing needs a content warning.
- Can someone join remotely?
- Yes — a remote player on a video call can play every round, and when they are handed the resolution they can choose to draw it on their phone instead of acting, so the room still sees their answer on the board.
- How much writing is there?
- One-sentence excuses for your regrets in the first round and short answers to end-of-year prompts in Confetti Confessions. Everything else is tapping, guessing and voting.
