About All About Dad
All About Dad turns Father's Day, his birthday, or an ordinary Sunday into a contest over who in the family actually knows him.
One person is the star and everyone else guesses. Each round the star answers a question about themselves on their own phone while the family answers what they think the star said; matching the star scores. The five built-in rounds are Favourites, Habits & Quirks, Dad by the Numbers, Back in the Day and This or That, plus Dad's Own — a round the star writes themselves before the game.
The board goes on a TV, a laptop, or a propped-up phone, and everyone joins by scanning a QR code — no app, no accounts. Rounds run on a timer so nobody waits on a missing answer, and a phone that locks or drops rejoins the same seat with its score intact. If the top two finish level, the star and the tied players answer one more question together.
Two to twelve players, about five to ten minutes. When it ends the host can hand the room a fresh set of rounds without anyone re-scanning, or close it out.
How a room starts
- Pick a game from the catalog — every occasion has its own room.
- Put the game's board screen where everyone can see it: a TV, a laptop, or a shared screen on a video call.
- Players scan the QR code (or type the room code) in their phone's browser. No app, no account.
- Play — everyone answers, votes, and scores from their own phone.
How to play All About Dad
A short narrated walkthrough of the whole game, from joining on your phone to the final scores: watch the how-to video. It is one tap from inside the room too, so a first-time group never needs the rules explained.
Where All About Dad fits
You will find it in the Birthday Bash room and the Father's Day room, alongside the other games picked for that occasion.
Common questions
- How many people can play?
- Two to twelve, including the star. It works with a small family and with a full party.
- Who should be the star?
- Whoever the occasion is about. They claim that seat on their own phone at the start; everyone else joins as a guesser.
- How long does a game take?
- About five to ten minutes for a set of rounds. The host can start another set straight away in the same room.
- Can the star write their own questions?
- Yes. Dad's Own is a round of questions the star writes, and a signed-in host can prepare a whole set in advance and replay it later.
- Is this only for Father's Day?
- No. It works for a birthday, a retirement, a family dinner, or any evening the family is together — nothing in it is tied to a date.
